Growing Food. Growing Community.
Waikōloa Grows is a community-driven nonprofit dedicated to strengthening our community through food, agriculture, art, creativity, and opportunities for people to come together.
Our work begins with food—expanding access to fresh, healthy, locally grown foods while supporting Hawaiʻi Island farmers, food producers, and small businesses. Through our Farmstand, seed library, community markets, and growing programs, we help connect people with the food and resources they need to grow and thrive.
But a strong community is about more than food.
It is also about having places to gather, opportunities to participate, ways to express creativity, and meaningful connections to the people and place we call home.
Through ʻĀina Art Labs, we are expanding our work into community arts, creating opportunities for residents and artists to bring creativity into the places where we live, work, gather, and play.
Together, our programs help create a healthier, more connected, and more vibrant Waikōloa.
What We Do:
Weekly Farmstand
Our weekly Farmstand brings fresh island-grown fruits and vegetables, eggs, grab & go foods, and locally made products to Waikōloa Village while providing a market for Hawaiʻi Island farmers and food producers.
Community Markets
We participate in local markets that bring farmers, food producers, makers, artists, and neighbors together. These markets are about more than shopping—they are opportunities to gather, connect, and celebrate our community.
Community Seed Library
Our seed library offers locally adapted seeds and growing knowledge, free and accessible to everyone. We encourage residents to grow, save seeds, and share them back with the community so that locally adapted varieties continue to thrive.
ʻĀina Art Labs
ʻĀina Art Labs is our new community arts program, using art and creativity to bring people together and strengthen our connection to place. The program includes community art projects, sculpture, installations, creative reuse, artist collaborations, and opportunities for residents of all ages to participate.
Stay tuned for future announcements about our first exciting ʻĀina Art Lab project.
Our Vision
A thriving Waikōloa and South Kohala community where people have access to fresh, local food, opportunities to grow their own, places to gather and connect, and opportunities to experience and contribute to the creative life of their community.
We envision a community where farmers and food producers are supported through strong local markets, residents can grow and share food, artists and makers have opportunities to contribute, and neighbors have places and experiences that bring them together.
Growing a Stronger Community
We believe strong communities grow when people have access to good food, places to gather, opportunities to participate, and ways to connect with one another and the ʻāina around them.
A garden grows food.
Community markets grow connections.
A seed library grows knowledge.
Art grows creativity and a sense of place.
Together, these things help grow a stronger Waikōloa.
Growing Food. Growing Community.
